Thia Boggs
Quality-over-quantity girl Thia began her culinary career assembling pear slices into the shape of a bunny, per the instructions in Betty Crocker’s Cookbook for Boys and Girls. Now, several years later, the Berkeley, California native has channeled her passion for food and entertaining into a diverse career as a chef, caterer, and event planner.
After graduating from UC Berkeley, Boggs attended California Culinary Academy, and later worked as the Culinary Program Coordinator for Macy’s San Francisco, where she occasionally spent weekends baking hundreds of Nigella Lawson’s mini chocolate cheesecakes.
In 2004, Thia created and hosted Thia’s Love Kitchen, a pilot for a new half hour series for Food Network.
A recent East Coast transplant, Thia now divides her time between Washington, DC and Harlem, where she and her new hubby are renovating a historic Sugar Hill brownstone. Thia can oft be spotted between the aisles of bakeware at Williams Sonoma in Manhattan’s Columbus Circle, where she manages in-store events and cooking classes.
In A Virgin’s Guide to Everything, Thia dishes about planning the perfect romantic meal for two. The Mantra according to Ms. Boggs: “You are the greatest dish in your whole dinner.”
Got an upcoming shindig for two or for twenty, and nary a clue how to plan for it? Thia is here to help.
