Hollywould creative director Holly Dunlap has just a few famous names to drop (not that she would). She first interned with New York socialite designer Carolyne Roehm (who, by the way, paid lil’ Holly in Manolos), attended design school in Paris, landed her next dream job with Christain Lacroix, worked in London for Vivianne Westwood, revived the iconically pink-and-green clothing line Lilly Pulitzer, and now is as big as her former employers, thanks to her inimitable line of shoes, bags, and pretty frocks. We love Hollywould, indeed. Find this prettiest of blonde designers in the Fashion chapter, where she gracefully doles out advice on your first black tie.
Tracy Reese
Tracy Reese, celebrated designer of the most covetable of feminine fashions in Bergdorf’s, Scoop, and elsewhere, credits her mother and grandmother with her style sense, and owes some of her savvy to Parsons School of Design, Martine Sitbon, and Perry Ellis. Lucky is the lady who dons a pretty Plenty by Tracy Reese skirt, fortunate is the gal who wears the brilliant Tracy Reese frock to the party, and truly blessed is the woman who heeds Tracy’s advice on investment clothing in the Fashion chapter of A Virgin’s Guide to Everything. By the way: Look for more Tracy soon: Her new home line (at Anthropologie), flagship store (location TBA), and sure-to-be spectacular accessories. Visit www.tracyreese.com.
Elaine Tse
Jewelry designer Elaine Tse’s got moxie. The Chicago native actually dumped her actuarial career and began her business on a dare. She sold her beguiling necklaces at swanky cocktail parties (off her neck), and now offers five equally pretty collections by appointment only in her exclusive Philadelphia studio. Elaine’s jewelry ranges from diva-like to delicate, urban-chic to earth-mother, costume to precious. The Tselaine collection is now carried in over 200 boutiques and department stores around the country. Find Elaine online at www.tselaine.com, and in the jewelry department of the Fashion chapter of A Virgin’s Guide to Everything.
Najwa Moses
Naj Moses definitely has the best laugh on the planet and she’s pretty much is vying for the number one outfit, too. As a co-founder of Styleaholics Productions [www.styleaholics.com], Naj throws mad-hot shopping parties featuring the coolest wares from emerging designers, set to the sleekest stylings of women DJs. Naj also serves as a fashion commentator for NPR’s Day to Day, where she single-handedly puts the ‘tude in public radio. Check her out in this funky Converse/MTV2 commercial, and in the sample sale section of the Fashion chapter in A Virgin’s Guide to Everything. We heart Naj.
